Our Parish Priest
Fr. Aleksandar Vujkovic was born September 23, 1987, in Jajce, to Stojan and Dragica Vujkovic. In 1990, the family relocated from their ancestral village, Pljeva, to Banatsko Novo Selo, where he graduated grammar school.
With the blessing of the (now deceased) Bishop of Banat, +Hrisostom (Stolic), in 2002 he enrolled in the St. Peter of Cetinje Seminary in Cetinje, Montenegro. Upon completion of the seminary, he worked as a religious instructor in grammar schools in Borci and Ovci. With the blessing of the Bishop of Banat, Nikanor (Bogunovic), in 2009, Aleksandar enrolled in the St. Sava Theological Seminary in Libertyville IL, from which he graduated in 2013.
The same year he married Tamara Vujkovic (nee Bodrozic). At the Monastery, on its feast day (May 10, 2013), His Grace Bishop Longin, of the New Gracanica Midwest America Diocese, ordained him into the deaconate, and made him responsible for maintaining the Diocese archives. Deacon Aleksandar was ordained into the priesthood by Bishop Longin, on the New Gracanica Monastery’s Feast Day, November 14, 2013. In addition to overseeing the Diocese archives, Fr. Aleksandar was assigned as assistant priest of Holy Resurrection of Christ church on Palmer Square (Chicago.)
With the blessing of Bishop Longin, on October 23, 2014, Fr. Aleksandar was installed as the first permanent priest of the St. Petka Mission Parish in Nashville Tennessee. Fr. Aleksandar and popadija Tamara are the proud parents of three children, daughters Vasilisa and Jefimija, and son Vasilije.
